These figures were based on the "Mazinger Z" animated series from Japan, which aired in the US as "Force Five". They were made by Bandai and sold by Mattel. Some of these figures had 2nd and 3rd versions with minor repaints, weapon changes and minor mold variations (the 2nd and 3rd versions are not as valuable). Many other figures were released by Popy in Japan throughout the 70's and 80's. There was also a Marvel comic series based on this line.
